Don’t Come to a Tarot Reader If You’re Not Ready to Hear the Answer
The most valuable things I have are my time and energy. That’s why there are times when I can see quite clearly — don’t come to me. That doesn’t mean I dislike my work or that I don’t want to consult people. Quite the opposite. I love what I do, and I truly appreciate people who come to me wanting to understand something, see something more clearly, or make a change. But a tarot consultation isn’t meant for every situation or for every person.
So this time, I want to talk about when, in my opinion, you probably shouldn’t come to a tarot reader.
❌ If you already have your mind made up
A consultation isn’t about me having to convince you, or you having to convince me of your version of the truth. I’m not here to confirm the story you’ve already decided is true. A consultation is my objective reading of the cards in relation to your situation. And in that reading, I may see both your light and your shadow. I may see what is working in your favour, as well as the ways in which you may be making things harder for yourself. So if you’re only looking for confirmation of what you’ve already decided, perhaps a tarot consultation isn’t what you need right now.
❌ If you’re not ready to hear something you may not like
I tell you what I see. Sometimes that means pointing out the difficulties you may have to face or the mistakes you may need to correct yourself. The answer won’t always be the one you want to hear. And I don’t see much point in a consultation where a tarot reader simply tries to calm you down and tell you what you want to hear. If you ask the question, you also need to be prepared for the answer.
❌ If someone else is always to blame
There’s a very simple principle:
“It takes two to tango.”
Of course, other people can hurt us. They can make bad decisions, lie, manipulate us or act dishonestly. But if, in every situation, the only question is “What did they do wrong?” rather than “What is this situation showing me about myself?”, then we’re missing a very important part of the picture. From my perspective, tarot isn’t a tool for finding someone to blame. It’s a tool that can help us see the situation itself much more clearly.
❌ If you’re highly emotional and tend to take everything as a catastrophe
There are moments when emotions are so intense that a person simply isn’t able to process information calmly. One card becomes a catastrophe. One uncomfortable symbol becomes “It’s all over.” And one possible difficulty is already being interpreted as an unavoidable fate. In that state, a consultation may not actually help. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let your emotions settle first.
❌ If you’re only willing to hear the one answer you want
I come across this quite often in relationship consultations. A person wants to hear one specific answer. For example, that the other person will come back, that they love them, that everything will definitely work out. But when the cards show something else, attempts begin to find a different wording, a different question, or a different interpretation that will somehow lead to the desired answer. In my opinion, this desire to hear only one specific answer often points to much more complicated inner work that still needs to be done. Because sometimes we’re not actually looking for an answer. We’re looking for hope. And those are two different things.
❌ If you’re desperate
Desperation is not a good advisor. So, whenever possible, sleep on the situation. Let the first wave of emotions settle, and only then, the next day, decide what to do.
There’s another aspect to this as well.
Desperation makes you vulnerable. And what if the person you happen to turn to is a dishonest practitioner who takes advantage of the fact that you’re unable to see things clearly and uses that moment to manipulate or influence you? That’s why I always recommend taking a pause before turning to someone for help.
You don’t have to run to the first person who promises to solve your situation.
❌ If you don’t have a specific need and your request is simply “tell me everything”
I really like specific questions. Not because they’re always easy to answer, but because they help us understand what you actually want to find out. “Tell me everything” sometimes means that the person doesn’t yet know what they actually want to understand. And then we can talk about a lot of things, but in the end be left with the feeling: Okay, but what were we actually looking for here? So respect not only your own time, but mine as well. The more specific the question, the more meaningful the consultation can be.
❌ If you’re looking for a “magic wand” to solve everything for you
This, in my opinion, is the most important one. The cards can show you where the roots of your problem lie. They can help you see the resources available to you, your opportunities, obstacles, and what might need to change in order to move the situation forward. But the reading itself won’t solve anything for you. Tarot can give you information. But once you have that information, you have to do something with it yourself. If you don’t like your job, the cards can’t write your resignation letter for you. If there are problems in your relationship, the cards can’t create a healthy relationship for you. If you keep making the same decisions over and over again, the cards can’t start making different decisions on your behalf. And that’s exactly why I believe a good tarot consultation isn’t about a tarot reader deciding what you should do with your life. It’s about helping you see something more clearly so that you can decide for yourself what to do next.
So, when should you come to a tarot reader?
Come when you’re ready not only to hear, but also to analyse. When you’re ready to look at a situation not only from the perspective you’re currently standing in, but from another one as well. When you’re ready to admit that perhaps not everything is exactly as you think it is. When you’re ready not only to look for answers, but also to do something with them. Because a tarot consultation isn’t a magic wand. It’s an opportunity to see. What you choose to do with what you see is up to you.
So — COME when you’re ready to HEAR, ANALYSE, RESOLVE and ACCEPT.
